From the Transforming Research Initiative (TRI) to a new faculty compensation system to strategies for dealing with research funding shortfalls, there’s much going on in the School of Medicine. And not surprisingly, I’m constantly hearing from faculty that they are never told what’s going on.
This blog is the result — I’m planning to use this as a tool to communicate developments underway at the School, in addition to our traditional channels such as inScope, information to be passed on by academic leadership at departmental meetings, and so on.
One model for this effort is the Rock Talk blog by Sally Rockey, deputy director of extramural research at the NIH, which provides updates and useful background on the extramural funding process at the agency. I recommend it as a good site to check out occasionally.
Look here for regular (but not constant!) updates on research at IUSM. And if you have comments or suggestions, post a comment below.
